Thanksgiving

Work & Upcoming Move

I am working today, and I don’t mind working this Thanksgiving. The girls are going to visit their dad, and our apartment is trashed because we are moving on December 1st. My daughter wants to pay rent on the new apartment for the remaining days of this month. I think that is a great idea. It will give us time to slowly move our stuff without having to buy boxes – we can reuse containers and just put everything in the similar places in the new apartment. We are moving to a 3-BR apartment in the same complex.

I have not had my own bedroom for about 3 years now. My girls love one another very much, but one daughter is very particular about her room, and the other is kind of well – not. So, I share a room with the daughter who is particular. For a while though, I did sleep in the living room.

Now that I work from home, my daughter cannot really use the room to relax in, and she has to be out of the room so that I can work early in the morning. Having a 3-bedroom apartment will give me my own space so that I don’t take over my daughter’s space every day.; I’m even using her desk! I know how hard it is to not have a space of your own, and I want her to be comfortable as well.

Of course, it would be more economical to stay in the current 2-BR apartment. I am kind of stressed about basing my living costs on more than my base income. Working will be necessary, especially since I am not depending on my daughters to contribute to rent. I just want them to concentrate on their studies and graduate without debt. One daughter is attending a nearby university; we live about 2 minutes from campus. The youngest is starting the same university next fall. So, it makes sense to rent in the same complex due to location, and I do not have ties to the community here enough to want to buy a home. Homes are crazily priced right now, and I do not know if I ever want to acquire that much debt in my lifetime!

I have come to the realization that I may never buy a home, and I think that is fine. I have never cut grass, and I am sure I would not like being required to shovel snow. Also, if I rent, then I can move closer to wherever my children land one day.

Well, time to get to work.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I AM Thankful For:

  • My daughters
  • My pets
  • Our home
  • Our income
  • Our medical care
  • The opportunity to interview for a position of promotion.
